TREO Model Designations Explained

TREO Engineering has always focused on producing the best woofers around, but we also build top-quality coaxial and component speakers.  These two speaker lines are divided into a number of series, each targeted at different car audio applications.  What follows is an explanation of how we arrive at our model designations.

Driver Series indicates the speaker family the speaker is a part of.  There are presently five different subwoofer driver families; TS, TSX, SS, SSX, and CSX.

Driver Size indicates the nominal size of the driver in inches.  TREO Engineering subwoofers are offered in eight, ten, twelve, fifteen, and eighteen inch sizes.  (Not all driver families available in all sizes)

Driver Impedance indicates the nominal impedance of the driver in Ohms.  Single voice-coil drivers will have a single digit number for this figure. '.4' indicates a four Ohm speaker and '.8' indicates an eight Ohm speaker.

Dual voice coil drivers will have a two digit number for this figure.  If the voice-coil impedance is above two Ohms, then the measurement is expressed twice in Ohms.  '.22' indicates Dual two Ohms and '.44' indicates dual four Ohms.  If the voice-coil impedance is below two Ohms, then the measurement is expressed in tenths of an Ohm.  '.09' indicates dual 0.9 Ohms and '.15' indicates dual 1.5 Ohms. 

If there is a 'Q' at the end of the designator, the speaker has quad voice-coils.  '.09Q' indicates quad 0.9 Ohms and '.15Q' indicates quad 1.5 Ohms.
